National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) recommends college credits for International Training Institute for the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Industry training

(ALBANY, N.Y.) The International Training Institute for the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Industry (ITI) announced that the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) has evaluated and recommended college credit for its apprenticeships.

This benefit provides a unique opportunity for members who successfully complete ITI programs to gain access to college credit to transfer toward degree programs offered by colleges and universities nationwide that recognize college credit recommendations, according to James Page Administrator for the International Training Institute.

“An evaluation and recommendation of college credit for ITI apprenticeships validates the quality and rigor of our educational programs and demonstrates our commitment to provide our members with multiple paths for advancement,” said Larry Lawrence, ITI training specialist who worked intimately with NCCRS through the validation process. “ The ITI believes that the competencies developed through apprenticeships combined with knowledge gained through college degree programs provide our members with the skills, knowledge and credentials to meet the ever-evolving demands of a dynamic industry,” according to Page.

“NCCRS has found ITI's apprenticeship programs to be very worthy of college credit recommendations, and we are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity to serve ITI apprentices throughout the country,” said Lisa Sax Mahoney, NCCRS director.

ITI is jointly sponsored by the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation workers (SMART) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA). ITI is the educational branch of the unionized sheet metal industry. More than 15,000 apprentices are registered at training facilities in the United States and Canada.
