NCCRS Welcomes Mosholu Montefiore Community Center as New Member Organization
NCCRS recently welcomed a new member organization into the fold. Mosholu Montefiore Community Center (MMCC), based in the Bronx, New York, joins 76 other current member organizations. A vital community resource, the organization each year serves more than 35,000 preschoolers, school age children, teens, adults, and senior citizens in the Bronx and Manhattan through support, enrichment, education, and recreation programs, expanding their opportunities to live full, productive lives.

NCCRS Launches Quarterly Newsletter
NCCRS has launched a new communication vehicle, NCCRS News. The unveiling of this new quarterly newsletter coincides with a rebranding of the organization which includes a crisp new logo and revamped social media sites, including a brand new Facebook page we encourage you to follow. Each issue of the newsletter will contain NCCRS news updates, member organization and student success stories, cooperating college and university news, evaluator accomplishments, and the latest industry news and trends.
NCCRS Welcomes Evaluation Associate Richelle LaPolt
The National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) has welcomed Richelle LaPolt as evaluation associate. Ms. LaPolt started her new position in January 2022.
In her new role, Ms. LaPolt is responsible for addressing student, college, and client needs; answering prospective business inquiries; handling financial records, and accounting tasks; organizing office operations and procedures; and performing administrative and clerical duties to help the organization fulfill its mission.
NCCRS Evaluation Associate Carol Creevy Retires
NCCRS extends a big thank you and warm wishes upon her retirement to our evaluation associate, Carol Creevy! A true professional, Carol has been an integral part of the NCCRS team for the past 17 years, serving as the face of the organization and handling a wide array of duties over the years. A higher education colleague of Carol’s once stated, “When cloning becomes available, Carol Creevy should be the first candidate. She is smart, highly competent, even-tempered, and kind. She handles multiple tasks with ease and pays careful attention to detail.” We couldn't agree more!
NCCRS Evaluator Heather Kenny Launches Child Literacy App
Veteran National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) evaluator, Heather Kenny, PhD, and a colleague, have developed and launched a new app, Sounder & Friends™ The Game, that helps young children develop important literacy skills. Based on the popular animated series of the same name, the game invites beginning readers, ages 3 - 7, into a fun and enchanting world where sounds can be heard and seen.

Western Electrical Contractors Association announced today that its Low Voltage Electrical Apprenticeship program has received a college credit recommendation from the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS). This benefit provides learners the ability to gain access to college credit for completion of this three-year apprenticeship program by using the credit recommendation(s) set forth by NCCRS.

The National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) has appointed Phil Kahn its new assistant director. Kahn, a resident of Wilton, New York, brings more than 20 years of higher education, workforce development and marketing experience to the role.

Extension of Credit Recommendations
Because of safety concerns and travel restrictions related to COVID-19, NCCRS has deferred the scheduled five-year revalidation of some member organizations' learning experiences, examinations or programs. NCCRS approved a temporary extension of current credit recommendations where necessary and noted that on the member organization's page.

Hartle: Trump Education Budget an ‘Assault on College Affordability’

WASHINGTON — If a news report on a preliminary draft of the Trump administration’s proposed education budget is accurate, the budget represents a “historic assault on college affordability,” a senior executive for the American Council on Education (ACE) said Thursday.

HAMPTON, Virginia - Jeion Ward decided it was time to do something about teaching young drivers how to handle a police stop when she realized her grandson had reached driving age.
"My grandbaby!" said Ward, a delegate who represents Hampton in the Virginia General Assembly. As an African American, she has seen her husband and three grown sons deal with what many describe as the special tension of interacting with police while black.
So Ward crafted a bill requiring driver's education classes to teach students how to handle themselves during a traffic stop.

(ALBANY, N.Y.) The International Training Institute for the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Industry (ITI) announced that the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) has evaluated and recommended college credit for its apprenticeships.
FDNY Celebrates 150th Anniversary in 2015
Mayor Bill de Blasio and Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro announced details for the city’s year-long celebration of the FDNY’s 150th anniversary in 2015.
The FDNY, established as a paid professional organization in 1865, will host a series of events throughout the year, including multiple community-based events. They will be designed both as a celebration of the Department’s history of service and to encourage young men and women to pursue the extraordinary public service careers available in the Department as firefighters, paramedics and EMTs.
