Major topics taught in this course include: Levirate marriages, substituting objects for money, kiddushin, kinyan, gezeira shava, definition of “Rabbinic”, “forced choices”, masculine and feminine grammatical forms, maasros, orlah, reva’i, and shemittah, chelev, kisui hadam, chalitzah and yibum, and severing a marriage. This is a generic, skill-based course and tractate and topics may vary. The above topics serve as an example of topics that would be covered if the study was centered on the tractate of Kiddushin.  Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion and textual preparations. Prerequisite: Formal education: Record of successful completion of four years high school (or its equivalent), ability to read and comprehend Hebrew, ability to read Rashi script.
