Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: construct and maintain a square layout using the 3-4-5 and swing arc method; compare and contrast different types of carpet tile and layout styles (alternate grain - monolithic, and ashlar); use the pyramid installation method to keep field tile square; summarize proper application methods of adhesives, seam sealers, and rolling procedures for direct glue carpet installation; assess and defend whether carpet should be repaired or replaced; and choose best repair method for a section of carpet based upon the damage.
Instruction:
The course focuses on the layout and installation of carpet tile as well as an overview of repairs that installers may be required to perform. Students learn to use the 3-4-5 layout method to layout, install, and fit square, diagonal and herringbone patterns.
