Parquet Wood Flooring Installation

Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: identify and articulate the use of machines and hand tools used to sand wood flooring; accurately lay out a herringbone pattern and install parquet flooring; explain how wood flooring is finished; discuss safety and feasibility factors that arise when sanding pre-finished or new wood flooring; and hand scrape wood flooring according to design specifications.

Instruction: 

Instruction focuses on the application of skills that apprentices have learned specifically the layout and installation of herringbone pattern for a parquet floor. Also included is a review of constructing a control line and perpendicular line.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Floor Covering or related disciplines (9/10) (9/17 revalidation).
