Scaffold Erector (GCC133)

Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: identify and safely construct four types of scaffolds: welded frame, tube and clamp, systems, and mobile tower; list the responsibilities of a competent and a qualified person and the various government and private agencies that monitor and regulate scaffold erection; properly layout, erect and dismantle the four types of scaffolds; identify types of loads and define capacity and duty ratings; describe different types of fall protections systems that should be used by scaffold users, erectors, and dismantlers; and discuss prints as they relate to scaffold assembly.

Instruction: 

Apprentices are introduced to scaffolding systems and their regulations, standards, and safety issues. Successful completion of the course qualifies apprentices under federal and local law to assist in the erection, dismantling, repair, maintenance or modification of any supported scaffold on the job site.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 2 semester hours in Millwright, Carpentry, or Construction Technology (11/08) (11/13 revalidation) (1/19 revalidation).
