Fiber Optics - Intermediate is the second course in a three-course, classroom-based series. This course includes in-depth treatment of light theory and laser fundamentals as well as an analysis of the content of the light spectrum generated by the various light sources. It also covers system planning loss budgets, and drop techniques. Hands-on lab sessions provide skills practice of terminating, fusion splicing, inspecting, and testing of installed fiber optic systems.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Fiber Optics or Applied Technology (2/13).*NOTE: Course numbers on transcripts may reflect different prefixes depending upon where a course is offered.
