University of the People (UoPeople) is a non-profit privatedistance education university. UoPeople is the first tuition-free, American, accredited, online university.

UoPeople offers associates, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees as well as certificates. Associates and bachelor’s programs include: Business Administration, Health Science (public health and policy focus), and Computer Science. Master’s programs include: Business Administration (MBA), Education (M.Ed.), and Information Technology (MSIT).

Business Administration certificates are available in Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing and Strategy. Computer Science certificates are available in Data Science and Network and Application Security. Certificates in Health Science are available in concentration of Public Health and Health Services, Human Biology, Epidemiology, and Behavioral Health.

Forms of Credit: 

In keeping with our mission to open the gates of higher education for all, UoPeople may accept transferred credits from both accredited U.S. and accredited non-U.S. institutions. For undergraduate UoPeople degrees, you can also transfer credits from the following:

  • NCCRS transcripts
  • American Council on Education (ACE) transcripts
  • Advanced Placement (AP) credits
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) credits

Amount of transfer credits accepted:

Associates Degree: Transfer up to 75% of your degree (45 credits)
Bachelor’s Degree: Transfer up to 75% of your degree (90 credits)
Master’s Degree: Transfer up to 50% of your degree (18 credits)

UoPeople accepts transferred credits for university-level courses from accredited institutions in and outside of the U.S. If you are not sure whether your credits can be transferred – don’t worry! All you need to do is upload your transcripts in the UoPeople Portal and our team will do the work for you! We don’t charge you for this evaluation. To find courses that have previously been approved for transfer credit at UoPeople, you can search our database. This list is growing daily and does not reflect all the courses you may transfer, just those who were already transferred by others.

Additional Information: 

“Tuition-free” means that unlike other universities, UoPeople doesn’t charge students for taking courses. UoPeople also doesn’t charge students to enroll, to pay for books or other course materials, or for campus fees.
