Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: utilize an industry-standard digital layout software application (i.e. Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress) to create professional designs at an advanced level; master the technical use of the tools and menu options to create professional designs; demonstrate a thorough understanding of the computer software application’s capabilities; demonstrate increased levels of comfort and speed in using the computer software application; synthesize theory with technical and creative skills to provide multiple solutions to technical challenges.

Instruction: 

Topics covered are: Students master computerized layout and its relevant applications (i.e.  Adobe InDesign) along with advanced study and theory of publication layout and design). During this course, two projects including magazine spreads and a masthead and contents page are completed.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 4 semester hours in Art (2/11) (4/16 revalidation) (3/21 revalidation).
