Learner Outcomes: 

Students will be able to: practice and incorporate safety and ergonomics into all activities; follow government (including OSHA) and local regulations; effectively handle gases and hazardous materials in the warehouse; manage process and flow of inventory; identify physical characteristics of inventory; use inventory storage systems and maintain accurate inventory visibility; utilize proper inventory ordering practices; effectively complete process of accepting inbound shipments; complete quality control process; execute inventory transactions; Identify optimal inventory storage method; perform physical putaway process; distinguish and choose the most appropriate picking methods; perform physical picking process; complete packing and pallet shipments; follow procedures for potential outbound transportation modes; complete shipments for small package carriers; execute international shipments and hazardous materials; employ general safety practices and ergonomics; operate non-powered material handling trucks; perform palletization and strapping procedures; identify loads and the load effects when operating a forklift; operate electric rider lift truck and power low-lift hand truck; operate narrow aisle lift truck; operate carousel inventory storage system; identify and use the proper material handling storage systems; manage the use of radio frequency technology in the operation; use WMS as applicable in operations; develop professional communication skills with customers; use quality standards for services; perform customer needs assessments and evaluate customer satisfaction; identify components of the supply chain and relationships between supply chain components; and use proper logistics terminology; Identify the importance of globalization on the supply chain. Performance Component: Inventory Control/Cycle Count (14%); Material Handling Equipment (36%); Receiving (17%); Order Fulfillment Process (20%); and Bill of Lading (13%).

Instruction: 

NOCTI and NBS exams assess individuals' end-of-program knowledge and skills in an online proctored proficiency examination format. In addition, some programs administer a NOCTI/NBS performance component test to assess application of skills.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Logistics Technology or Distribution Center Services (11/13) (11/18 revalidation). NOTE: An additional 1-2 credits may be awarded based on successful completion of the Performance Component when given in conjunction with the written proficiency examination.
